Jacques Malchaire est né en 1994 à Vielsalm. Ingénieur civil électricien à l'Université catholique de Louvain (1968), il obtient un Master of Sciences (1972) puis un Ph. D. à l'Université de Cincinnati (USA). À l'UCL, il est assistant (1968), chargé de cours (1974), puis professeur (1980). Il donne différent cours et effectue des recherches liés aux facteurs physiques d'ambiance, à l'ergonomie, l'hygiène et la sécurité du travail. Il dirige l'Unité d'hygiène et de physiologie du travail (HYTR).
