Design, construction and hosting

The site is published by the Archives of the Université catholique de Louvain. The site is hosted by the Université catholique de Louvain, with the support of the Service général du système d’information (SGSI).

The site is built using the free software Omeka, made available under the GNU General Public License by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University. The theme used was produced and developed by AFDThe Multilanguage plugin was developed by Sempiternelia.

  

Protection of personal data

The UCL Archives portal includes both an Internet site accessible to the public and an intranet reserved to certain users.

Personal information and data that may be collected while visiting the site include:

  •  the Internet domain from which you access the site;
  •  the IP address of the computer you use to access the site;
  •  information concerning pages you consult on the site and the last actions carried out therein;
  •  your email address if revealed, for example, by sending messages or posing questions on the site, communicating with us by email or or creating an user account;
  •  your identification as a user when accessing the restricted part of the site;
  •  any other information you provide voluntarily, for example as part of surveys and/or registration on our site or expression of preferences regarding the information we send you.

Personal information and data can be collected or processed via either:

  •  forms to fill out in order to access certain services on our site;
  •  ‘cookies’.

 

The party responsible for processing your personal data related to this website is the Archives de l’Université catholique de Louvain, that you can contact via one of the means offered below in the "Contact" section. In accordance with current legislation, you have the right to access your personal information and data as well as the right to rectify any discrepancies. On request, you thus can be informed of the existence of personal data concerning you and correct any inaccuracies. Copyright and intellectual property

The site, as a whole, including all the parts that compose it (texts, photos, illustrations, graphic or infographic elements, logos ...), is protected by the intellectual rights and more specifically by the laws and international conventions on the right copyright.

Any user is required to strictly respect the conditions of provision of said content.

In particular:

As for the editorial contents, the Université catholique de Louvain holds intellectual property rights on said contents. Except as provided by copyright, the use of such editorial content, in any manner whatsoever, is strictly prohibited. Therefore, any reproduction (other than that required by simple private consultation), the communication to the public and the use of such content require the express consent of the Université catholique de Louvain, which can be obtained by sending a request to contact resumed below.

As for digital resources, they are generically made available under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license (Attribution - No commercial use - No modification), on the express condition to also mention the conservation institution and the identifier of the resource as follows: ‘Archives de l’Université catholique de Louvain, [resource ID]". Digital resources not under the Creative Commons license are made available subject to the conditions expressly mentioned therein.

The Archives de l'Université catholique de Louvain has made its best efforts to comply with applicable copyright and image rights legislation and to obtain the consent of the rights holders. However, when the holder of the rights in question could not be identified despite the efforts made, it was decided to reproduce the digital resources, it being understood that the person who would be the holder of rights in the work is invited to take immediately contact with the Archives de l'Université catholique de Louvain in order to regularize the situation.

 

Responsibility

Despite the great care taken in the creation and writing of the site, the Université catholique de Louvain cannot guarantee the accuracy or the exhaustiveness of the information contained therein. The Université catholique de Louvain cannot be held liable for damages, whatever their nature, which may arise from the use of the site and/or its content by the user.
