Le Centre Lumen Gentium (CLG) a été créé en 1982 avec le dépôt progressif des archives conciliaires exceptionnelles d’experts belges au concile Vatican II, membres de la "squadra belga", comme Ch. Moeller, G. Thils, Fr. Houtart, A. Prignon, J. Dupont ou B. Olivier. D’abord dédié à la publication des inventaires de ces papiers et à l’étude historique du concile Vatican II, le Centre a étendu ses recherches, historiques et théologiques, à l’Église contemporaine dans son ensemble.
